About Woodyworks
Woodyworks was founded in 1989 by Sherwood (Woody) Veach. Woodyworks offers home remodeling with detailed attention to the finished product. From the 'bones' of a project to its functions and its polished finish, these items are what set Woodyworks' work apart from others--it needs to work well underneath as well as have an excellent finish. Woodyworks philosophy is to provide a premium product in your home remodeling and updates, from start to stop.
Woody is a fourth generation carpenter who studied the trade with his father and grandfather. His grandfather, an accomplished luthier, gave Woody hands on training in handcrafting fine musical instruments. This involved very precise woodwork and manipulation of various materials used as inlays. His father was a home builder and remodeler, who gave Woody hands on experience in the many facets involved in a home's structure and finish. His perfectionism became Woody's inspiration to "sweat the details."
Woody received an Associates Degree in Computer Science from Hagerstown Junior College, MD and an additional three years of art and science studies at Shepherd College, WV. He is also an accomplished potter and photographer.
For six years after college Woody worked for the federal government and private corporations, lastly as a Computer Graphics Specialist combining his computer background and art background. After those six years of "being stuck at a desk" he forged out on his own as a craftsman. He has since offered a unique combination of skills to home improvement that span from the conceptual and design stages through actual implementation. His talents and skills include woodworking, cabinetry, premium painted finishes, faux finishes, lighting, tiling, design and more.
Operated solely by Woody from 1989 until 2004, an assistant, Ken Hosto, has worked with him since.
